Q: Safari tabs are closing on their own

Since updating to iOS 10, my open tabs in Safari on my iPhone 6 are closing randomnly on their own.  This is most annoying!  I started off with about 15 open tabs - all opened at some point during the last 3 or 4 months.  Yesterday I suddenly had only 8 and this morning I'm down to 3!!!  I had all of the pages in Safari opened for a reason and now they're all gone!!!  How do I get them back?  And how do I prevent this from happening again?  Thx

iPhone 6, iOS 10.0.2

You can try getting them back by holding the 'New Tab ' button, and you should see some of the previous tabs

As for preventing this I have no idea

Thanks, but that doesn't help unfortunately. When I do that, it only gives me the option to reopen a few tabs I closed this morning on my own.

Other than going through your history there would be no way to get them back (unless you really want them back by restoring from an iTunes backup)

To prevent this you could try opening the tabs for a second

Another thing you could do is save the pages in Notes to ensure you keep the pages, or bookmark them
