Q: iOS 10.02 update requested
Two days ago I went into General settings to update to iOS 10.02 and now the gears are spinning and the message "update requested..." shows but it won't update and there is no cancel to allow a retry. Any ideas on how to fix this?
Thank you!

Thanks for reaching out to the Apple Support Communities! It sounds like you're having issues with downloading the update to iOS 10. I know how important it is to be sure the iPhone is updating properly. The good news is there are a few steps you can do to get this issue taken care of. Just be sure after each step, go to Settings and check to see if you are able to get the update downloaded and installed. First, check out this article to Get help with over-the-air iOS updates. Specifically:
If you can’t reach the update server or can’t verify the update
If you try to update the iOS on your device, you might see one of these messages:
"Unable to Check for Update. An error occurred checking for a software update."
"Unable to Verify Update. iOS failed verification because you are no longer connected to the Internet."
Try updating your device again using the same network. If you still see one of these messages, try updating your device using another network. If the issue happens again after trying to update with multiple networks, remove the update.
Learn more about iOS updates.
Next, check out this article with steps to Restart your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch.
The next thing you might want to try is going to Settings on the iPhone, then to General, and then to Reset. Once there, tap Reset all Settings. This will reset the iPhone settings, but not erase personal information such as photos, contacts, or music. It will, however, remove Wi-Fi and VPN settings so be sure you have those settings and passwords ready for when the iPhone is started back up.
Have a great day!
