Q: iOS 10 App Store Background Battery Killer

I have an iPhone 7 Plus and the battery life is being killed by the App Store background activity.  It averages at least 50% usage of my iPhone's battery each day and the phone is constantly warm.  I've tried soft resetting, turning off background app updates and signing out and back in of the app store.  I've seen a lot of issues posted on this topic but have not come across a solid solution.  Any advice?

i just removed any playlists from syncing with the watch through the iphone app. not sure if this will fix it. battery still drains fast but without the phone heating up and at a slower rate so there still seems to be a residual problem somewhere.

    what a nightmare.

Last night I tried removing and adding the synced playlist back to the watch, hard resetting both the watch and phone turning off and on iCloud music sync.  Nothing worked to fix the problem. The only way I fixed it was to unpair and pair the watch back to the phone.

I am having the same issue, iPhone 7 Plus , apple watch, and Powerbeats2 wireless, app store was using roughly 70 percent of my battery and would last only a few hours. After unpairing my watch and repairing without syncing any music the battery still was draining. I did have photos synced however i do not think thats the issue. After listening to music today on the powerbeats the battery started to drain again. I think it has to do with either syncing content to a apple watch, or listening to music via bluetooth headphones with watch and phone on(maybe music control on watch).  I have turned off the headphones , restarted both products, and now am using the lightning headphones. The battery works perfectly.

I have been having this problem too.  I got my iPhone 7 on launch day and paired it to my existing Series 1 apple watch.  I never synced music to the series 1 watch.  After having my series 2 watch for a few days I synced a playlist and went for an outdoor run without the iPhone.  It was then I started noticing battery drain.  Very quick battery drain, all attributed to the "app store" app.  The phone would get so hot it was uncomfortable to even put it in my pocket.  After several phone calls with Apple they replaced my iPhone 7 which I got on Monday.  I set it all up, paired it to the watch, and Tuesday through Thursday it worked great.  Well, this morning it was time for an outdoor run on my workout schedule (if I am doing the rower or weights I listen to bluetooth headphones directly from my phone), so I synced my workout playlist to my Apple Watch S2 and that's when I noticed the iPhone 7 battery start to drain, and yup - the App Store app is now again showing it is sucking down the battery.
