Q: Change traffic from port 5900 to something else?

I have successfully set up a static IP and Port Forwarding using my MacMini running 10.11.6 and Airport Extreme. My VPN blocks port 5900 so I am curious if there is a work around.

Please forgive me if my use of terminology is wrong.

Is it possible to re-route my traffic from 5900 to a different port that isn't blocked by my VPN?

This article details how to view the etc/services file, however it's a LONG list and I am not finding the option for VNC-server settings

Any help is greatly appreciated!

MacBook Pro, OS X El Capitan (10.11.2)

Are you running a dedicated VPN appliance or server on your local network or are you referring to a VPN client running on your MacBook Pro?

As you are mostly likely already aware you can open ports on either your MacBook or the AirPort Extreme base station.
