Uninstall Norton Security. It is not needed and it may cause issues. No third party app that claims to protect, clean, boost performance, manage, etc. your computer should be installed.

This is what you need to do to protect your computer:

Effective defenses against malware and other threats

Mac Anti-Virus solutions have been documented on this site as the cause of far more problems than they purport to fix.

I would uninstall Norton, its among a short list of Mac AV products that will cause a variety of problems

your best protection right now along with safe browsing habits is to keep your computer up-to-date with security patches and OS upgrades from Apple.

Remove Norton. Antivirus software and Macs don't play nice and waste loads of system resources.

Norton says OSX.Trojan.Gen "is a generic detection for many individual but varied OS X Trojans for which specific definitions have not been created." Basically, that means it's a file they don't recognize that has some trojan-like characteristics. So you're getting a false flag.

So my advice is to safely ignore it.

Also, uninstall Norton. It's fairly useless. Much more important to just always install Apple Security Updates as soon as they're released. Just do that and run MalwareBytes every week or so.

That's actually a malware installer, that will install Genieo along with some other junk and adware. The presence of that may or may not mean that you're infected, though... if you are, Norton isn't detecting it.

Do you recall downloading something, opening it and seeing a window like this?

The icon and background may vary a little... that's the latest incarnation of a Genieo installer, but there have been others.

If you did see this, did you open that Installer app? If so, you're infected, and should run Malwarebytes Anti-Malware for Mac to remove it, as was indicated by macgirldc. It's a free download and free to use.
