Since I updated my iPhone 6 to 10.0.1, I have not been able to use the microphone for any application. When I touch the microphone icon, it turns in then immediately shuts off. Doing a reboot of my phone has no effect.
An amendment to my post above, the microphone works for audio apps, such as a music tuner. And audio recording apps. When the microphone is used for speech dictation, those apps consistently do not work. Is there something I have to do in my settings?
Ah! More sleuthing! Speech dictation works only on Wi-Fi. When Wi-Fi is off, speech dictation does not work.
I turned off Cellular data and turned it back on, and now speech dictation works consistently across all apps that require it. Turning off the phone and restarting did not reproduce the anomaly. I am hoping this is only an anomaly and not a system bug .
after i update my iPhone 6 + microphone not working only in the phone app, it doesn't work on speaker neither with headphone jacks, the microphone works well on all other apps (facetime, whatsapp, siri, voice memos,etc) i restore my phone and it did nothing. Will appreciate any help
The problem has returned. Pressing the mic icon and it shuts down after 2 seconds. It seems like a memory issue. I cannot use dictation. Wait! Now it works! This is getting very confusing.
The problem now appears to be random. Sometimes it works like now. And then it does not work (like now).
