Q: I plugged in my phone to my computer and the photo app usually pops up and begins to import the new photos from my phone. But that is not the case right now. Is there something that I need to make sure is on in order for it to download all my photos

I plugged in my phone to my computer and the photo app usually pops up and begins to import the new photos from my phone. But that is not the case right now. Is there something that I need to make sure is on in order for it to download all my photos from my iPhone to the computer?

    Thanks for using the Apple Support Communities. From your post, I see that when you connect your iPhone to your Mac, the Photos app does not automatically open and begin importing your pictures. I know that can be convenient, and would be happy to help!


    The action of Photos automatically opening is an optional one, and can be turned off. To make sure it is enabled:
     
    1. Connect your iPhone to your Mac using the USB cable that came with the iPhone
       
    2. Open the Photos app on your Mac
       
    3. In the left sidebar of Photos, select "iPhone" from the Import category
       
    4. In the top left of the app, put a checkmark in the box next to "Open Photos for this device"
       
    If you then quit the Photos app, unplug your iPhone, then reconnect it, Photos should automatically open. Once that happens, you can use the buttons in the upper right of the Photos app to either import selected photos, or import All New Items.
