Q: HomeKit Location Based Automation

I want to use Location Based Scenes in HomeKit for when I leave home and when I return from home. I had previously been doing this in individual apps (August Auto Unlock, Philips Hue Location Aware, etc.) but I much prefer it to be a scene in HomeKit. I have designed the scenes and set up the automation.

Here is my issue - when I am driving away from my house or driving close to my house, a notification comes on asking me if I want to run the specific scene, which requires me to interact with the notification and press "run". I HATE this. The whole point of automation is for things to happen when they are supposed to without user intervention. The August/Hue Combo I listed above doesn't encounter this, they work as I leave or arrive.

Is there a reason that I am getting this notification that I have to interact with, rather than the scene just running? My other scenes (Triggered by time, triggered by devices like a door opening) work fine, without any notification to interact with. It is only the geolocation based scenes.

Yes, I have 3 Apple TV 4th Generation and yes they are set up as hubs. My only thought could be that since sometimes my iPad is still in the home when I leave, is that confusing HomeKit since once of my devices that is signed into HomeKit is still there. iPhone 7 Plus on the most recent version of iOS 10 - note this didn't work with my 6s either.

Any thoughts, any guidance, I would really appreciate it.

Thanks

I ran into the exact same thing.

So far I've pointed the problem on the lock devices, like my August Lock

Not that it's August's fault, but I think Apple changed the way lock devices are allowed to interact with HomeKit

So what I did is removed my August Lock from my homekit interface and used the August app geofencing feature to unlock my lock when I come back home. To lock I use my August app on my watch.

Since I've done that all my geofencing triggered scenes are working 80% of the time.

But there's also been some iOS updates since iOS 10 first release, and August also updated their app, so I might give it a try once more soon.
