Q: Mail crashing

Upon the upgrade to Sierra, Mail runs for a few minutes and then crashes.

 

Please let us know there's a fix in store...

    Hello Buffsters,
    Thank you for using Apple Support Communities. 

    I understand from your post that after updating your iMac to macOS Sierra the Mail app runs for a short time and then closes. I know how important it is for your Mail application to work properly for you. It is possible another application on your iMac is conflicting with Mail. Restarting your iMac into Safe Mode will eliminate any other software applications that could be contributing to the issue. Once you have tested the issue in safe mode, restart your iMac as normal and see if the issue persists. Also, testing the issue in another user account will determine if the issue is a systemwide issue or a user account issue. 

    The following articles have the steps you will need to test the issue in both Safe Mode and in a new user account: 

    Try safe mode if your Mac doesn‘t finish starting up

    Starting up in safe mode

    Follow these steps to start up into safe mode.

        1.    Start or restart your Mac. 

        2.    Immediately after you hear the startup sound, press and hold the Shift key.

        3.    Release the Shift key when you see the Apple logo appear on the screen.

    Dear Irina,

    Thank you for your help. Trying everything, I finally tried deleting accounts one at a time. When I deleted my Yahoo account, Mail stopped crashing. When I put the Yahoo account back up, it started crashing again. While this his a work-around I can live with for now, it would be nice to be able to monitor all of my email accounts from Mail, including Yahoo.
