You can customize it in System preferences>Language and regions>Advanced>Time tab
It looks like a bug, did you try a simple reboot/ PRAM reset?
The menu bar clock ignores the date and time formats. IT depends on the region you set in system preferences > language and region. which region is selected there for you? When I set the Region to Germany, I am seeing the correct separator, a colon, but for "Denmark" it changed all of a sudden to the buggy dot as a separator. You may want to send feedback to Apple to fix the localization files for your region.
Yes i tried rebooting. It is probably a regional settings thing.
It seems that way. My region is Denmark actually.
There was another post about the similar problem from Denmark yesterday.
