Can iTunes add images for mp3's created from recording Vinyl?

I have created over a 1000 mp3's (320 bps, 441hz) from recording Vinyl. Obviously i can manually create images for these files individually but will take quite some time, so i wondered if iTunes could automatically create them. I have tried to select all images in library by getting album artwork but it just tells me the following statement 'Getting album artwork requires you to sign in to the iTunes Store using an Apple ID. Please go to the iTunes Store and sign in or create a new Apple ID.' i have logged into itunes and it still tells me the same thing. Could anyone point me in the right direction? My files are saved on my mac. Many thanks

Yes, you can manually add an image as album artwork to any MP3 song in your iTunes library. Original source does not matter.

Your other question is separate. In current iTunes, go to iTunes menu bar and click Accounts. The menu drops down. At the top of menu, if you are signed in currently, your Name and Apple ID are shown. Do you see this?

If you are signed in (and you see your name and Apple ID), from the menu bar

File -> Library -> Get Album Artwork

You don't need to have anything selected in your library. iTunes tries to get missing album artwork for songs in your library. iTunes does not "create" images. iTunes looks for album artwork in the online resource, based on song data, and downloads whatever is available and adds album artwork to songs. Some (or many) songs will not match available album artwork.

You have to add them manually. There is no metadata on your homemade files that tells iTunes what to look for.

I usually do a google search, then take a picture (shift+command+4) of the image and drag it to the playlist I create for each album. I don't usually look to do this for each song, as that would be much more cumbersome. It works well for playlists tho.
