Unfortunately this does not work!! When you select the table in the source page document and copy (command+c), and then in the recipient document, you click to place your insertion beam where you want to place the table, and paste (command+v) ......ALL THIS DOES IS PLACE THE TEXT AND THE TABLE OUTLINE AND ITS FORMATTING ARE GONE!!! I have tried it numerous ways with the wrap off, you name it, nothing works!!!!

First of all, I don't post guesswork. I perform the actual tests, and post the results. You cannot paste a table precisely where you want it to go. To get the result that you discuss, you are copying a table from Pages '09 into Pages v5.6.2, and this just delivers stacked cell text with no trace of the table. You must copy/paste between like versions of Pages to achieve what I have discussed previously, and below.

In Pages v5.6.2 on El Capitan 10.11.6, I have a blank Pages v5.6.2 document, and an existing Pages v5.6.2 document that contains a single 4x5 table with cell color fill, integer, and currency formatting, and active formulas. When I select the table, and paste (command+v) into the blank Pages document, every aspect of that original table arrives without any loss of content, formatting, or formula. It looks and functions identical to the original.

  1. You select the table, and copy (command+c) in one document, and then in the recipient document, you click to place your insertion beam where you want to place the table, and paste (command+v). With the pasted table selected, you will want to visit the Arrange tab, and set Text Wrap to None so that you can move the table around for finer placement.
Note: You can set Text Wrap to None on the source document table, and the copy/paste will retain that Text Wrap setting.
  2. Numbers permits certain cell formats that are not supported in Pages (e.g. pop-up menu, check boxes, etc.), so be mindful that Pages provides tables, not spreadsheet functionality. Spreadsheet data is not linked to the original Numbers document.
In Numbers, you click on the first and last cell that define the spreadsheet table that you want to copy, and then simply press command+c to copy it.
    1. Preserve table coloration, and cell formula.

Edit menu : Paste Formula Results. There is no keyboard short cut.

    2. Preserve table coloration, but not cell formula.

Use command+v to paste the table.

    3. Monochrome table

Use option+shift+command+v (paste and match style).

  3. To select the entire Pages, or Numbers table for copying, you click once anywhere on the table, to make it foreground, and then click on the bullseye in the upper left corner to select the entire table.

The above pertains to Pages v5.6.2, and Numbers v3.6.2 on El Capitan 10.11.6.
