Tried to repair Photos library, now library won't open.

Hi, I have been using Photos for a while and have never had any issues.

Today when I was editing photos each photo I edited got corrupted after, meaning when I tried to open the photo I would get just a white screen and the photo thumbnail would be very pixelated.

Read somewhere to hold the Command+Options keys and to repair the Photo library.

I tried that, it got to 5% and then crashed. Now everytime I try to open the Photos library I get the message:

"The library could not be opened. Photos has attempted to repair the library 'Photos Library' but is unable to open it."

Does anyone know how I can fix this issue/save my photos?

I have El Capitan.

Thanks

MacBook Pro (13-inch Early 2011), OS X El Capitan (10.11.3)

Where is your Photos Library stored? Is it on your system drive in the Pictures folder or somewhere else?

Are you sharing the library between users?

Did you run any applications to save storage and clean your Mac before the problem occurred?

It would be good to know the reason for the library corruption so it does not happen again after you restore it.
