Kernel Panic on OS Sierra Install

After initiating an install for OS Sierra on my 15 inch Macbook Pro, I returned to see a Kernal Panic on boot up. After restarting the boot up process stalls and on pressing any key the kernel panic appears. The machine won't boot up in safe mode, I have reset PRAM, SMC but no luck. I can boot OS El Capitan from an external USB and access my hard drive and see my contents.

What are my options?User uploaded file

MacBook Pro with Retina display, macOS Sierra (10.12)

I too had this problem but after reading thru this thread, tried a bunch of stuff and was successful. I disconnected all devices and I did all of the obvious resets and also ran first aid on the drive. When I rebooted, I would still get the kernel error and it would reboot a few times eventually landing on a blank screen with a circled x on it.

I then booted into recovery WITH network (option, command, R) and once connected to the internet (still with all devices disconnected from all ports), did a reinstall of the OS. This time it worked.

I hope this helps everyone else and am not jinxing myself by writing this!

Boot into Safe mode

<http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1564>

If that works, please post the panic report from

Kernel Panic reports: Finder -> Go -> Go to Folder -> /Library/Logs/DiagnosticReports

<http://support.apple.com/kb/ht2546>

<http://support.apple.com/en-us/HT200553>

The panic report should have "panic" in the file name.

If you have several recent panic reports, please post a few of them in separate replies.

Then post a copy of the EtreCheck output

<https://discussions.apple.com/docs/DOC-6174> or <http://etrecheck.com>

I have the same problem.

I can't start in safe mode. Pressing Shift while booting yields the same result.

I tried to reinstall it several times by booting into local recovery but same problem.

I tried to recover to previous version by booting into internet recovery but it won't because it says I have newer version.

I tried the alternate booting suggested by Hondo but I only get my primary HD, which produces the same problem.

Now I'm stuck. Can't go forward and can't go back.

I've chatted with Apple support too. I even pointed them to this thread. Useless. Their solution is to have a complete clean install.

I tried that. Sierra installer didn't panic. So it seems it had to do with the original state/software installed. Here are some suspects that are related to HID/USB, let me know if you had something similar installed:

1) Virtualbox

2) USB-serial adapter driver

3) 3G USB stick driver

Also, before installation, I had the following devices connected (of course I tried removing them afterwards):

1) HD Cinema display

2) Bluetooth keyboard and mouse
