Q: Bluetooth problem on iPhone 7

L.S.,

I am having a Bluetooth problem with my iPhone 7. I have a polar V800 sport watch which through Bluetooth can upload exercise data to the Polar FlowApp on the iPhone. This worked OK on my iPhone 6s but not so much on my iPhone 7. I am able to pair the V800 to the iPhone 7, and once paired the exercise data that is on the V800 when pairing is completed is uploaded to the iPhone 7.

The next day however pairing no longer works, the V800 tries to establish a Bluetooth connection and the Bluetooth symbol on the iPhone 7 flickers a bit but never becomes solid. Removing the Bluetooth connection to the V800 and repairing the V800 solves the problem until the next day. I suspect the problem is with the iPhone 7, as I never had this problem with the iPhone 6s. Anyone with the same or a similar problem?

It concerns a black iPhone 7 128GB, iOS 10.0.2, Polar FlowApp 3.2.3.

And it's not just that you can't sync sessions but you don't get smart notifications either.  Hurry up, Polar!

Here is a message from chatting with Melissa just now:

Unfortunately it has come to our attention that new iOS 10 version may cause Bluetooth connection issues. We are currently investigating the issue and have reported this to Apple as well. We hope to get this issue fixed as soon as possible. Thanks for your patience.

I have the exact same issue and here is the response from Polar and this was on Oct 7th. Disappointing this isn't posted on their Website yet and even more that they'll have folks go through the regular BS (uninstall, install, etc.)

"Hi, this is known issue at the moment, I'm afraid. V800 needs to be updated in order to fix the sync issues with iPhone 7. Fix has been done but not released yet. The next V800 update has been planned to take place in few weeks time.  Meanwhile you can use the cable sync on your computer to sync data from V800 to Flow web service. My apologies for the inconvenience causeed by this. Thanks for you patience. //anna"

This sounds like the V800 firmware needs updating rather than the flow application. In my case I know it initially worked when I went from the iPhone 5 to the 7. I was able to sync and got messages on the V800. Then it became flaky. Then it stopped and I see the same connected/not connected flickering in the Bluetooth menu while the watch simply won't connect.

I can delete the pairing and re-pair to get one synch session completed. Not ideal but at least doable if I don't have my cable with me. Still bothered that Polar isn't upfront about this. Poor judgment in light of growing competition of smart wearable devices......
