Notebooks
Q: Google Chrome, Macbook covers, and heat
Hello everyone,
I am the new owner of a Macbook Pro, 13" retina Early 2015 model with 8 GB of RAM.
I need to really take care of this laptop as I will probably not be able to replace it soon (I have two small babies to feed!), yet I demand a lot from it (I'm a school administrator working on my doctorate degree).
My questions:
- Is Google Chrome really the resource hog that I've read on browser reviews? I've heard that Safari is a lot less demanding on Macs, but it just does not work for me, mainly because we use a lot of Google Apps for Education at the school that I work at and the one where I am studying. I tried to make Safari work for this reason, but it's just impossible/impractical
- I bought a notebook case for added protection, but a colleague told me that they actually cause more harm than good. He seemed to have a personal vendetta against them though, so I'd like to get your thoughts. His main complaint is that they cause overheating, but my case does not obstruct any of the vents and it has extra vents on the bottom
To note, I do not play any games on this machine; I use it strictly for communication and for research. I mostly use Google Docs/Sheets/Slides for my office and school work.
I appreciate any help that you can provide.
