Q: Custom Lyrics missing or malformatted in iOS 10

I have the same problem with my iPhone 6s after the 10.0.2 upgrade... Custom lyrics don't appear or they have "<br>" instead of a actual line break. After removing the music from my iPhone, and then re-synch again the custom lyrics will appear on the iPhone. But many of the lyrics still have the "<br>" problem in the iPhone lyrics. And, most frustrating, every time I sync the iPhone to my PC's library the custom lyrics disappear again!

I am also having a similar problem.  At first, none of my custom lyrics showed up on my phone when I updated to iOS 10.  I had a similar problem several iOS versions ago, but the last few had been fine.  I ended up having to wipe the phone and reload everything.  This seemed to work temporarily, but now, every time I sync my phone some of the lyrics disappear.  When I go into iTunes on my computer and edit the lyrics to those songs and then re-sync my phone, then those lyrics appear, but ones from other songs disappear.  It's crazy and super frustrating.  I have hours worth of typing in custom lyrics in multiple languages to well over 1,300 songs, and I expect to be able to read them on my phone. I really hope Apple fixes this!

called apple customer support and they have not idea.....

I have this problem but one thing I've noticed is that all of the affected songs that contain the <br> in them, all have an ampersand  & or contained some other kind of symbol.

Replacing the & with and, then deleting all music and then re-synching the music cured the <br> problem and the lyrics looked normal again.

10/19/2016 - This is very frustrating.

For example I have 41 songs from a young French singer Joyce Jonathan.

Before iOs10 all songs have lyrics, since iOs10 haven't been able to have lyrics to all 41 songs combined.

Every synch is unpredictable.  Always at least 6 or 7 songs of 41 missing the lyrics on the iPhone.

After trying to clean the 41 lyrics from starting with extra lines or having <> " &  () ? '

You fix some, synch and other lyrics are gone.

Some songs that used that have lyrics disappear.

Every time you synch is a throw of the dice...

It’s a box of chocolates... you never know what you are going to get!!

Imagine same scenario for my 12 thousand songs in 6 languages.

What are the apple developers doing, thinking or smoking?

I am willing to start using this iPhone7 as a door stopper.

Hi, i had this issue too, called Apple support and they didn't know what's going on. they suspected apple music's official lyrics are interfering with custom lyrics, and they didn't help with solving the problem. 

so i did a trial and error myself, the <br> issue seems to be caused by the presence of this "&" symbol. user cj619 mentioned this too, i wish i had seen this discussion thread earlier, so that i didn't have to waste hours on iTunes, trying to figure out why some lyrics show <br> and some others don't.
