After updating to Safari 10, Safari history deletes itself.

After updating Safari to version 10, the history seems to keep deleting by itself. I had set removing history items at 1 year intervals before update and everything works as it supposed to. But after the update it keeps deleting the history browsers on a daily basis and browsers that are six months old or more will disappear from the safari history. Even after changing the setting between deleting history manually and after 1 year a number of times, it still deletes history by itself. The system is a late 2013 8GB iMac running OS X Yosemite 10.10.5. I am not sure if anyone else is having the same problem or if this is just my incompetence with computers. I have tried searching for solutions but I didn't find any and I seem to be the only one with such an issue. Any help or advice is greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Are newly accessed websites staying in history?

Go to Finder and select your user/home folder. With that Finder window as the front window, either select Finder/View/Show View options or go command - J. When the View options opens, check ’Show Library Folder’. That should make your user library folder visible in your user/home folder. Select Library/Safari. Move all files beginning with History to your desktop.

Restart the computer, open the application, and test. If it works okay, delete the files from the desktop.

If the application is the same, return the files to where you got it from, overwriting the newer one.
