Q: digital asset exchange (.dae) files not displaying properly in OS X Sierra

Digital Asset Exchange (.dae) files not displaying properly in OS X Sierra Finder.

I'm talking about the preview of the 3D model that is supposed to show in the finder. It shows for a split second, then vanishes. If I click and hold on it, the image appears and rotates as it's supposed to, but when I let go of the mouse button, the preview image disappears.

I'm only having this problem on my iMac 5k, my MacBook displays them fine. Any idea how to fix this? Being able to preview my 3D files in Finder is an important part of my work flow.

iMac with Retina 5K display, iOS 10.0.2

    Hello nonsuigeneris,
Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.

I understand from your post that you are not able to preview a .dae file in Finder as it appears for a moment and then vanishes. I know how important it is to be able to view all your files in Preview. I recommend testing the issue while your Mac is in Safe Mode and/or in a new user account. The following articles have the steps you will need to test the issue in both Safe Mode and in a new user account:

Try safe mode if your Mac doesn‘t finish starting up

    Starting up in safe mode

Follow these steps to start up into safe mode.

        1.    Start or restart your Mac.

        2.    Immediately after you hear the startup sound, press and hold the Shift key.

        3.    Release the Shift key when you see the Apple logo appear on the screen.

    Best Regards.
