Q: How to find out why my iMac is waking up by itself since installing Sierra?

I installed macOS Sierra yesterday. Since then, both times that I put my iMac to sleep it woke up by itself sometime later and remained awake until manually put asleep again. I'm not sure how long it took before it woke up each time. I searched for wakeup in Console, but this utility has changed at lot and I didn't find wakeup reasons that used to appear in the previous version. Nothing else has changed from El Capitan other than the update to Sierra.

I'm looking for clues to help me find the cause of this new problem.

Sleep/Wake failures have been happening since Mavericks (2013). There are various suggested fixes. See this thread:

    Trevoz,

Obviously, I need Bluetooth for my Magic Trackpad 2, so unless I want to keep it plugged in all the time or keep the computer awake, this is going to be a major issue. I didn't have this problem with El Capitan. I have a 2015 iMac w/Retina 5K. Apple tech support hasn't solved the problem yet. Despite reporting the Bluetooth info I found in Console, they had me test with Bluetooth on and all USB devices disconnected. Protocol, I guess. It didn't help. I am now awaiting their call to arrange the capture of some specific data for the engineers.

Hi - Happy (or not so much) to finally find someone who has been experiencing the exact same problem since installing MacOS Sierra.  Started for me when I installed first public beta.  None of the subsquent beta, gold-copy or final production versions have resolved.  I've tried turning off Time Capsule, unplugging all USB devices (aside from USB keyboard), disabling "Allow Wake for Network Access"...None of these have been successful.  iMac continues to randomly wake from sleep with monitor turning on.  I see it's been over a week since the last post on this board.  Have you had any luck at all from support in diagnosing / resolving your issue? TIA

After the same thing happened in Safe Mode, Apple tech support captured some data from my iMac, including Bluetooth diagnostics, and sent the files to the engineers for analysis. That was last Wednesday. When I hear back from Apple, I will post anything relevant that I learn.
