Q: MacBook Pro (2012) - MacOS Sierra very slow

Hello,

I have a MacBook Pro 13' 2012 (4GB). Since I installed MacOS Sierra, my Mac is extremely slow, it becomes almost unusable (sometimes 5 minutes to open a program).

Does anyone has the same problem? Is it possible to return to MacOS El Captain?

Thank you for your response!

MacBook Pro, macOS Sierra (10.12)

Please download and install EtreCheck from http://etrecheck.com/

Run it and post the report here. Maybe after analyzing the EtreCheck report we might be able to help you fix the problem with your Mac.

I have the exactly same program, everything is taking such a long time to respond. Even opening Finder is slow. I don't think it's possible to go back to El Capitan IF you haven't done a back up version through Time Machine. I didn't so I suppose I'll have to talk to Apple Support.

Actually your best first step is to start your own thread with a complete description of your MacBook Pro (from About this Mac), and follow Allan Eckert's sage advise to post an Etrecheck report. You will probably get a solution without calling Apple.

Tagging onto another thread here, even if you think you have a similar issues, only makes it harder for you and the OP to get the undivided attention you and the OP deserve, and makes it tough for the experienced helpers here to sort out "who is where" with their troubleshooting. Some very knowledgeable senior members here will not answer a "threadjack" as it confuses the entire process.
