Q: .MOV files not showing preview icon in finder

.mp4's have video icons which is great.  Why not .mov files? These are from my iphone. I mean apple makes them so what gives?

Also if I right click and go to "info" I do get a poster frame.

Thanks

I no longer use 10.10 but my .MOV's have show icon based on the content from both desktop embedded folders in 10.12 on the boot drive.

if you copy the file to the desktop and it works I'd look at that external drive a possible cause and see how it's formatted.

Thanks for the suggestion but no luck, even on my main HD I get no .mov preview thumbnails

    I FIGURED IT OUT!

I sometimes VJ with the Resolume program, and I guess somehow it or I installed "ResolumeQuickLook.qlgenerator" into my QuickLook folder in Library which was the problem.  Ironically I figured this out by replacing my imac's quicklook folder with the quicklook folder from my macbook pro which had the icons working fine and this solved the problem.  It's ironic because I use resolume way more often with my laptop and that's the one without the problematic resolume quicklook file.

Anyway probably a very specific population will find this helpful but man I was just about to do a complete OSX re-install.

    Watch that Library>Quicklook folder!
