There are times when I need to copy paragraphs from an older document and place in another. When I open the second document, it opens in a new window. Is there any way to open it in a new tab instead? Right now, when you click on the "new tab" button, you can only create a new document.

In Pages 6, with your first document already open, select File menu : Open... and from the display of Pages documents in the file chooser, you double-click to open the next Pages document automatically in a new tab.
Good tip! But apparently a new feature introduced with macOS Sierra (10.12.x).
Not available in Dock prefs in OS X El Capitan (10.11.6).
