iphone stuck on loading screen

I have an iPhone 5c. I got a text, slid to unlock phone so I could answer but phone froze on lockscreen. I held down the lock & home button to restart it. It didn't do anything at first. But then it went to the lading screen (the little rotating circle) that it does before it turns off. But its been loading like that for a few hours now. I don't know what to do or how to fix it.
