My iPhone 7 Crashed!

Has anyone had their brand new iPhone 7 crash? I plugged my phone in last night after I set my alarm clock (as I always do) and this morning woke by chance to see my phone telling me to plug into iTunes. I have plugged into iTunes and begun the update/recovery process, but it seems hung up on "Waiting for iPhone" and nothing is happening. What do I do?
