iPhone 7 Plus Camera - Pictures are bad

I take the following picture with my new iPhone 7 Plus (only one example).

So as you can see, this is really crap.

What is the problem? Is it a Hardware of Software (10.0.2) issue?

The results of my old iPhone 6s Plus were better...

I sometimes look at past photos taken with iphone 4S, 5S and 6S. Those pictures look nice, good color reproduction, good details. Why do you think Apple sid not show any landscape and colorfull photos in their iphone 7 keynote, like they used to with older models?? They knew that color reproduction is horrible, oil painted and details are crap.

I do not expect a perfect phone, but seriously, I do expect a decent camera!

A simple program like Photoshop Elements does not require expertise, and much of what one might need to do can be done on the phone by tapping edit. I agree that if one is not satisfied one should get something else, but I also think that if one wants really good pictures one should get a real, dedicated camera rather than use a phone.

But I honestly cannot see what is wrong with the picture on the left in the post of samples. Maybe it's the cataract in my left eye that I'm having fixed in a couple of weeks, but I can see fine with my right. The iPhone 7 picture looks fine to me with my good eye. Maybe somebody can explain.

Ah yes. There I see a difference. But frankly, neither one looks all that great enlarged, though the left is clearly better. I'll have to play around with mine to see how they look, because I never enlarge them. This all shows why serious photographers use real, dedicated cameras. Apple may pay a few professional photographers to shill, but I'll bet those photographers would never use an iPhone to take pictures they get paid for.

Both images look awful. Iphone 7 took a worse quality photo but the 6s is equally bad. Look at the hair on the right side on both photos it looks like it was painted. I own an iPhone 7 and moved from 6s to have better quality photos and ended up with something way worse for some time.

After some time (i wrote about that few pages ago) my photos got better and not I am happy enough with them not to move back to nexus / pixel phone.

I can post some new photos taken in the evening with iPhone 7 and Nexus 5x.

The photo on the left can be further edited and improved. But the one on the right is beyond being saved. Apple is doing something very funny/strange to the photos, and I swear I see the same results with my 9.7 iPad Pro, which has the same camera as the iPhone 6S Plus... it's all a big mystery to me... But all I can say is that with my iPhone 5S I still get beautiful images straight out of the camera app.

In my use the iPhone 7 camera is very very very bad at exposing and focusing on my dog, the 6S is Ok but it far out performs the 7 in this regard. The 7 even cut a photo of my dog up as his red lead seemed to confuse it! The 7 is not worth the premium over the 6S. With any luck next years camera will be up to the 6S standards or better. But the colour smearing is bad and something that simply should not exist or require fixing by anyone.

This is terrible and hurting my business. I use my cell phone for product photos. Everyone always compliments my photos, asked what I use and I just smirk.... because it was an Iphone6 plus. The ONLY reason I switched to I7 was for the hype on photo quality. I spent all day in natural sun, light box, etc to get a good quality pic. Looks amazing on my phone, but horrible on the computer.

Now, my computer is a gaming computer with a ridiculous graphics driver and a heatsink monitor . . . it's not MY computer. I am thinking of demanding a refund . . . I want my IPhone 6 back!
