I want to be able to try remixing songs that I have liked from the 60's and 70's but often due to limitation of the time, tastes in music, I don't always hear the song the way I would like. Very often, it is bringing out a bass line or just increasing the recorded volume so I don't have to turn my car head up to 11 just to hear the song. Will Garageband allow me to do this kind of remixing, and if not, any suggestions of what I might look for in a low cost software app. as this is just for fun/hobby. Thanks in advance, Jon

This is a really good question because it demonstrates a major misconception nowadays: The difference between tools and the ability to use those tools.

Yes, a hammer can help you build a house, but there is no point in discussion if hammer A or hammer B is doing the job or a better job if you don' t know anything about building a house.

Don't start thinking about about the hammer, think about how to learn the knowledge and expertise on how to use it.

Your question has nothing to do with GarageBand, because what you are asking is if you can "remix" a song, and the answer is yes, if you have the separate tracks, which means no, you most likely will have no access to those multitracks and therefor are not able to do what you want to do. But this has nothing to do with GarageBand or any other app. In this case, it is the basic understanding of an audio production.

Hope that helps
