Motu 8 pre distorted sound left channel

Hi,

I have bought a MacBook Pro 2014 2,2GHz i7, 16G Ram and connected my Motu 8 Pre via FireWire -> Thunderbolt. When using it with Logic Pro 10.2.4 it immediately creates issues on my left channel. The sound at the right channel is good, however the sound at the left channel is really distorted with a high screech in it.

Even if I play music through iTunes for example which is good and I start Logic the left speaker (still playing music from iTunes) is distorted with that high screech in it.

I have seen an other topic posted by MillerU812 and tried all suggestions, without luck.

Any help would be highly appreciated!

Have you tried the reset.

Disconnect unit from computer. Hold in the Volume knob in for 5

seconds. You should first see the clock light blink, then the first LED

for Analog input 1 or 2, then you will see a "D?".Turn the Volume knob to the right until the LED display reads "OK". Unit is reset.

Just to add... when ever you upgrade the operating system, be sure and unplug the MOTU unit.

Glad it worked for you...

Don't know if this applicable to your situation.. if the MOTU unit is left plugged in during an OS upgrade, as the new OS initializes the system drivers (thunderbolt...etc) it can spit out some garbage data, almost all MOTU interfaces need a rest after this. Unplug and you should be fine.

Thank you once more for this info. Although I haven't upgraded with my MOTU connected, I will keep this in mind for future upgrades.
