Oct 1, 2016 4:44 PM in response to randel007by Kenichi Watanabe,Does this happen to all songs on the iPod, when you play them? Or does it happen to some, but not all songs? If it's some, not all, does it always happen to the same songs, or does it happen to random songs (different each time)?

Even if your headphones do not have buttons on the cord, it may be sending false signals. Makes sure the headphones plug is fully inserted into iPod's headphones jack. A slightly misaligned plug can cause false signals. And also try different headphones, in case your current headphones are faulty.
If that does not help (headphones are OK), there may be general data corruption on the iPod. I'm not sure if "multiple resets" means you did a Restore on your iPod using iTunes, but that would be the next step. A Restore erases the iPod and sets it to default "factory" condition. The Restore button is on the iPod's Summary settings screen in iTunes. After the Restore, set it up to sync like before. If there's no hardware problem, it should work properly.

Oct 2, 2016 4:25 PM in response to Kenichi Watanabeby randel007,I did try a restore which did not solve it. I am not using headphones; playing from a JBL speaker/docking station. Thanks.
