Q: Failed Sierra installation

On Sept. 22 I tried unsuccessfully to install MacOS 10.12 Sierra. It failed during installation with an insufficient hard drive space message despite having 198 gb available. Today I tried again but the Ap Store reports that Sierra has  been downloaded. If so how do I either delete it or restart the installation process?

Re-download from the Purchases page in the App Store.

Sierra does not appear in my list of purchases on the App Store. It does, however, show as downloaded on the page used to download it. When installation failed I was left without an operating system and had to use the recovery partition to reinstall 10.11. It seems I need to find and delete the Sierra download and fix any logs that show it as downloaded. But I don't know how to do that.

Is the installation package in your Applications folder?

There is a folder called "macOS Install Data" that I found on my hard drive. It contains 12 files. I initially moved it to the trash but did not empty the trash. That did not resolive the App Store downloaded message. I took the folder out of the trash and left it on my desk top pending further information.

Thanks for the help. I found the installer in the list of files in the Applications folder. Running it successfully installed Sierra. Incidentally, the file did not show among the graphic icons representing applications in the folder. I looked for it in the finder list after getting your suggestion.
