Hello, facucestona!

Welcome to the Apple Support Communities! It seems you're getting prompted to update the carrier settings on your iPhone by iTunes every time you connect it to your iMac. I wouldn't want to deal with repeated requests to update, either! I am happy to help.

Have you tried updating your carrier settings from the iPhone itself, rather than through iTunes? You'll find that option by going to Settings > General > About on your iPhone. If an update is available, you will be prompted to download it. See this article for more information about carrier updates: Update your carrier settings on your iPhone or iPad

Take care!

Thanks for getting back to us about this, facucestona!

Next, try booting your Mac computer into safe mode to see if you're still getting that message when you launch iTunes and connect your iphone: macOS Sierra: Start up in safe mode

After trying it in safe mode, restart it normally and check again if the carrier update prompt pops up when you connect your iPhone. Let us know what happens!

Have a good week!

Hello Starr.C

I've started up my iMac in Safe Mode, open iTunes, plug iPhone, thus Update Carrier settings appears, updated successfully as usual, close iTunes and Reboot in Normal mode.

When I've plugged again the iPhone in normal mode, same behaviour, Update Carrier settings appears again.

I've also tested in my MacBook Air (macOS Sierra) with same results.

It seems that is not related with the computer itself.

Carrier version remain at 25.0 in my iPhone.

Regards

Hello again, facucestona!

That was a great idea using another computer to check this issue. We agree with you that it doesn't seem to be related to the Macs, but to the phone itself. Next, please make sure you have a current backup of your personal data on your phone. This article will help you do that:

How to back up your iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch

After you have a good backup, then let's reinstall iOS 10 on your iPhone. Click here for those instructions; NOTE: Make sure you click "update" in step 4:

If you can‘t update or restore your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch

After the update is complete, disconnect the phone from the charging cable, then reconnect it and see if iTunes prompts you again for the carrier settings update.

Let us know how it goes!

You do not indicate who your carrier is, and if you contacted the carrier to see if there have been multiple carrier updates. The updates are from the carrier and provided in iTunes through Apple. The updates themselves actually come from the carrier. Check with them to see what version of carrier you should have from them on your device. That may help explain the issue. Is this the only problem you have encountered when using your device with iOS 10 and iTunes? What version number of iTunes are you using with your Mac?

Thanks for the information. I know that carriers will generally provide carrier updates with a major number upgrade of iOS, so it is not unusual to get one. The unusual part for you is the fact that it is indicating an update every time you connect to the Mac. I'm not a Mac user, so I cannot comment on that part of it, but my reply here will bring this back up to the top of the queue, and could get some different attention.

I have the same issue with Updating Carrier Settings after iOS 10 update.....

Config: iPhone 5s, iOS 10.0.2, iTunes 12.5.1.21; Carrier:SimpleMobile 25.0

Tried multiple options:

1. OTA - Phone keep tries to update carrier settings every time when I go to Settings>General>About;

Carrier settings DO-NOT update;

No error received.

Tried this with Cell data and WiFi - together and separately!

2. ITunes: ITunes updates carrier settings everytime when I click Check for updates. When I click OK, I get iTunes error 1630.

3. Tried the Reinstal of iOS 10.0.2 - OTA and iTunes - the problem persists!!

Any idea what to do next????.....

I got the same stuff here.

Iphone 5 - IOS 10.1.1_14B100 - searching problem.

Upgraded to IOS 10.1.1_14B150 - 1-day-using and then searching problem.

Plug in and received a notification "itunes could not check for an update to the carrier settings for your iphone -50"

Check out the carrier update (Viettel 26.0 from VN) as our introduction. (hopeless)

Should i try to reinstall the IOS again?

I think i can use 1 more day if i try that again.

Best regards,

Mike.
