Apple Watch Series 2 is water resistant, not waterproof. The watch's water resistance means that it:
- May be used for shallow-water activities (eg swimming in a pool or ocean).
- Should not be used for activities involving submersion below shallow depth or high-velocity water (including scuba diving or waterskiing).
Series 2 models remain water resistant regardless of whether or not you enable Water Lock before exposing them to water.
If your watch gets wet under other circumstances than tracking a swimming workout or than when Water Lock has been turned on beforehand, follow these steps to manually clear water from it:
- Swipe up on the bottom of the watch face to open Control Center > tap on Water Lock > turn the Digital Crown to immediately unlock the screen again and to clear any water from inside the speaker.

The Water Lock feat is simply there to avoid accidental taps on the face which can happen when water is touching it.
