Also what kind of text. There are many watermarking apps that will let you add text to a photo. Some are free.
Another app you can use is GraphicConverter. You can use it in demo mode (prolong launch time).

Oct 2, 2016 1:08 PM in response to Old Toadby MUTigerFan2,I am wanting to put a description on each photo to identify the photo for future reference. This not a long sentence but a few descriptive words.

Oct 2, 2016 2:10 PM in response to MUTigerFan2by Old Toad,You could put the descriptive words in the Description field for the photo or use keywords and retain the integrity of the image for future use, ie. printing, etc.
When you export the image out of the library to use the image file elsewhere use the option to include the description, title, keywords, etc. with the file so the info goes with the image. That's how iPhoto, as a DAM (digital asset management) app, is designed to be use.

Oct 2, 2016 3:44 PM in response to Old Toadby MUTigerFan2,OT,
I have looked for a descriptive field in Photos but could not find any either under the "I" field or Edit. Edit does have Extensions, then More to add third party extensions for editing photos.
I could not get preview with the photos. I would like to use the Apple Store to buy editing software.
Thank you so much for your help and patience. This is all new to me since I switched to Apple computers.
