Bad internet on Macos sierra

After updating my imac (late 2013) to Mac OS sierra I frequently lose my internet connection. Especially when the iMac has gone into sleep mode and you want to start using it again the internet connection appears to be good but no connection can be made. The only way to get internet access is to reboot the Imac or log out the user and log back in again.

This is both wifi and ethernet and I already rebooted the internet modem but nothing seems to work except for the Imac reboot or logging off and on again.

Hello MaMeSl,

After reading your post, I understand that your iMac is not able to connect to the internet intermittently. You mentioned that this often occurs after you wake the Mac from sleep and notice that you're no longer able to connect to the internet. I also see that you're able to resolve the issue temporarily if you log out of your user account or restart your computer. This definitely sounds like a bit of an inconvenience. I'd be glad to help!

As a first step, I'd recommend that you start up your Mac in safe mode to test for the issue. Take a look at the following resources we have regarding safe mode:

macOS Sierra: Start up in safe mode

Also, it may be a good idea for you to test for this in a new user account on your Mac. This will help you to further isolate the issue. Take a look at this website that goes over how to create a test user account:

Cheers!
