    Hi Vinnie2013,

I see that you're having trouble blocking a phone number in Messages on your iOS 10 device. I'm happy to help you get this working.

Take a look at the following information:

    Messages

If you're in Messages, open the conversation, tap info, then tap the name or phone number. Scroll to the bottom of the Info screen, then tap Block this Caller.

When you block a phone number or contact, they can still leave a voicemail, but you won't get a notification. Messages won't be delivered. Also, the contact won't get a notification that the call or message was blocked.

That option isn't available in iOS 10. I found out by contacting Apple that you now need to go to Settings/Messages scroll down to Filter Unknown Senders and turn that on. Which then you will see a filter in messages now unknown senders which you need to check and then forward the # to Apple to report it.  This won't block the person/company from still texting you. It is a completely cumbersome way for users to handle unwanted text. Apple needs to put back the ability for users to block calls!

thanks for getting back to me
