Q: PC iTunes keeps disconnecting from Apple TV

I just switched from an old Lynksys router to the Airport Express and everything'sworking great but...

I've noticed that the iTunes Library on my PC will disconnect from the Apple TV after a certain amount of time. I have to go close down iTunes and restart it to get it to show up again. This happens with both of my Apple TV's.

Of course, the iTunes library on my Macbook is always on there, go figure. I know Apple products don't play nice with PC's (and I think it's no accident) but c'mon. This never happened with my old router.

If anyone has a fix for this, it would be greatly appreciated.

Which version of Windows is your PC running?

A dropped stream typically indicates that the iTunes host and the AirPlay "speaker" (AirPort Express, Apple TV, or 3rd-party AirPlay device) cannot maintain their communication link for AirPlay. This link is reconfirmed periodically. A weak or interrupted Wi-Fi signal can cause this linkage communication not to happen.

Since this issue is only happening with your PC, I would suggest the following:

    • Check for any form of Wi-Fi interference near the PC. Things like portable phones, baby monitors, microwave ovens & even the building construction materials used can all be culprits.
    • If the PC is running a software firewall temporarily disable it.
    • Check to see that the PC has IPv6 enabled for wireless.
    • Lastly, check to see that Bonjour for Windows is installed on the PC.

Thanks for the reply. I adjusted the firewall settings for Bonjour and that seems to have fixed it.
