Q: FCP 7/Studio
MBP 17" OS 10.11.6, 8GB Ram, 2.3 Ghz, I5, 1TB SSD, NVIDA GT 350M-512MB.
4 nights ago, was editing a 2 hour time line, saved project, shut down. Next morning bootup, FCP loads only until AFTER templates are loaded then shuts down. Tried numerous times including shutdown, restarts, reset NVRAM, Same thing. Trashed FCP, reinstalled FCP-same thing. Rebooted from original 500 GB HDD, FCP ran normally.
Any ideas/suggestions?

Trash your FCP Preferences. They are not deleted automatically when you trash the app and re-install.
