Q: AppleTV Remote Access not set up - For Home App on iPhone 7
I have a brand new iPhone 7, and a 4th generation AppleTV. I have installed a Lutron Caseta smart bridge, and a number of dimmers and switches in my home. Both the Lutron app, and the Home app on the iPhone 7 completely control the various dimmers and switches, and all scenes I have created work as expected.
The issue is every time I open the Home app on the iPhone 7 I see a warning message on the home screen of the Home app that indicates that "Remote access is not set up" on either an AppleTV or iPad. There are a number of problems with trying to correct this. First, all searches on the web are showing paths in settings on the iPhone that simply are not there on iOS 10.0.2, and second, the AppleTV is not showing any indication of a smart hub capability, or HomeKit functionality. The AppleTV is running version 10.0.
At this point I have done all of the following to try and resolve this:
1) Set up Two Step Verification, and have verified several times it is working
2) Deleted iCloud Keychain on my iPhone, rebooted, and re-added iCloud Keychain on the iPhone
3) Signed out of iCloud on the AppleTV and then signed back in (and YES I am absolutely using the SAME iCloud account and password, and YES I did receive the Two Step Verification code entry screen to continue, and YES the Two Step Verification code worked correctly)
4) Have verified that all devices are on the same WiFi in my house
I am out of ideas, the various articles on the web for setting this up were all primarily iOS 8 and 9. The little I have found on Apple's support pages that appear to be dated late enough to cover iOS 10.x have not worked. This is becoming beyond frustrating, any clues or ideas I have missed? (And so much for stuff just working, links in settings have changed, names change in settings, pointers in articles on how to do this do not work, the automation page on the Home app on the phone simply says to use your AppleTV or iPad as the hub to allow remote control of the system, but nowhere in the Home app are there ANY directions, or settings, or controls, or anything I can find to actually set up the remote access!)
One other nit, it would be grand if the Home app allowed scenes and devices to be ordered by the user, and even better if scenes were not limited to two rows that one has to scroll sideways to the right to see all scenes. Simply put scenes on one tab in the app one per line.
