If you buy LPX now, and if Apple should release LP11, most likely you will have to purchase it again ( as will all of us).
Regarding your other questions, A) Yes, B) Loads

Oct 2, 2016 3:48 AM in response to CCTMby Eriksimon,...although I dare predict that IF if if there ever is going to be a Logic 11, it is not going to happen in this decade. If.

Oct 2, 2016 4:30 AM in response to CCTMby dhaksha_s,So what happened to the people who had bought Logic Pro 9 when apple came out with Logic Pro 10, Did those people get the Logic Pro 10 at a discounted price or anything?

Oct 2, 2016 5:15 AM in response to dhaksha_sby octopi,No, they didn't.
Having said that though, the price of Logic X is lower than all other DAW manufacturers upgrade price.
Logic used to cost a LOT more than it does now and the old upgrade price was higher than the price of Logic is today. It was a purposeful move by Apple to lower the fixed, one cost, of Logic to a price point below the old upgrade price and below the upgrade price of any other DAW. Logic sells hardware for them. Hardware is where they make their money.

Oct 2, 2016 6:52 AM in response to dhaksha_sby BenB,The App Store doesn't have a mechanism for upgrade pricing. Apple has not to date charged for an update, they're free. As for Logic jumping from version 10 to version 11, "if" that were to happen, we're only on 10.2.x, so there's like 12 years of updates/upgrades before anyone has to worry about re-purchasing.
Logic Pro X is technically not an upgrade from Logic Pro 9. It was written from scratch, based on very different technologies under the hood. It is a 100% replacement. And as mentioned, costs less than legacy Logic upgrades ever did. It is a steal for the current price. And since there's no packaging and shipping costs any longer, and they've sold millions of copies, there's several hundred million dollars they've made. Apple is not giving anything away free, nor hurting for cash. I'd not worry about paying for an upgrade to LPX 11 for many years to come, "if" that even happens.
