Since installing the OS update my rechargeable apple mouse is failing to open files or jpegs when double clicked, the macbook pro retina track pad when double clicked still opens all files , jpegs etc, mouse is failing 70% of time even with repeated double click attempts- any one else have this?

Try adjusting the double click speed in System Preferences->Mouse.
When this happens it is usually because it is set too fast.
Thanks Luis but the Macpro retina no longer has a double click speed in mouse settings their is a tracking speed but it seems to make no double click difference, thanks anyway. will visit apple store

Yes, it does. I was not at my mac when I wrote previously, so I could not check; so I pointed you the wrong preference pane.

Thanks Again Luis, I adjusted double click speed, strangely files, doc, xcel, word, pdf etc all open ok with double click but photo files still fail to open in Photos 70-80% of the time, it takes repeated attempts on different photos to open for preview / edit - must be a setting in photos somewhere ?
I cant understand why its only having double click launch in photos only - I just tested a bunch of photo Jpgs I exported to desk top and these all open fine when I double click the Jpeg thumb, strange stuff -
