OLD Apple ID Changed

What do you do when your own apple ID was changed long ago by someone that had access to it and now you accidentally restore your iDevice that is now stuck at the activation screen requesting the credentials.

The interesting thing is that i created again the same exact Apple ID now recently with the same old password , but my iPhone doesn't accept it !!!

Any suggestions ?
