    Hey ssmall11!

I'm not sure if you intend to unlock a device you own before selling/giving it to another person, or if you've purchased a used phone that is still locked. I'll go through a few different options - hopefully these help!

I am planning on selling/trading/giving the device away, and still have it in my possession

    1. Tap Settings > iCloud.
    2. Scroll down and tap Sign Out, then tap Sign Out again.
    3. Tap Delete from My iPhone and enter your password
    4. Go back to Settings.
    5. Tap General > Reset > Erase All Content and Settings.

I have already sold/traded/gave away my device but it still has Activation Lock on it

    1. Sign in to iCloud.com with your Apple ID.
    2. Go to Settings.
    3. Locate your phone  under My Devices and click on it.
    4. Click the X to the right of the device name to remotely remove Find My iPhone and Activation Lock.

I'm planning on buying a device but want to see if it is still Activation Locked

Visit this page and enter the IMEI or Serial Number: https://www.icloud.com/activationlock/

I purchased a used device and it is Activation Locked

Get in touch with the previous owner so they can remove the Activation Lock. Additional details and steps can be found here: Turn off Find My iPhone Activation Lock - Apple Support
