Is this under Windows (a different forum)?
Hello,
try an other USB port (on the backside) or maby this artikel can fix the problem:
If iTunes doesn't recognize your iPhone, iPad, or iPod - Apple Support
Are you using iTunes 12.5.1?
Windows 10, iTunes updated, everything done that was needed to be done. My iphome 6+ And iPad air 2 worked fine. I ended up calling Apple support and with a few tweaks all is well and working now. Thank you for replying to my post.
Just had that happen to me for the third time in two weeks (twice during os updates but today out of the blue). Each time it is the driver that needs to be manually located, today I also had to stop and start Apple Mobile Service and re-boot as the manually location (as advised by Apple Support and good helpers on here) didn't do the trick.
tt2 - from your experience of assisting others, any idea if this could be just my phone causing the problem - the first two occasions were at the point the downloaded os needs to strip the original os from the device. Today who knows, I'd just synched my iPod Touch with app updates, disconnected that, connected the phone (which showed it was charging) but not showing in iTunes.
While making the images for the user tip I noticed (last image) that Apple Mobile Device Support has been using the same set of driver files since June last year. It begs the question as to why do so many people have trouble connecting to their devices after an iTunes update if the driver is unchanged? Presumably something about an update to either iTunes or a device must flag up that things have changed, and somehow, for some people, the right driver is ignored. Personally I cannot recall ever needing to apply the fix in anger, but that could just be because I've done it so often trying to spot where others might be having trouble applying it.

Let's hope they do take some notice of the comments on here. I did an online chat with Apple Support last week who were helpful but couldn't really shed light on why it had happened to me again. But sounds like even if I get the 7plus I could encounter the same problem. At least I now know what to do.
Thanks for your assistance on this, always appreciated.
You're welcome. 🙂

How did you do to resolve it??
I have the same problem, how did you solve it? are there any easy steps or is better to call apple?
What were your "few tweaks"?
I'm having the same issue. iTunes detects my older phone just fine but it doesn't detect my new iPhone 7. Windows Explorer recognizes the iPhone 7. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling iTunes and restarting the phone and restarting Windows 10.
In my case (all three times in the last two weeks) it was the driver not being found, even though it was there. There is a link in turingtest2's post (immediately above yours if you show all replies in this thread) which has full details of what to do. The first two times I encountered the problem that worked.
The last time (which was not during an OS update where the other two were) I also had to restart the Apple Mobile Device Service - it was running so stopped and started and then re-booted.
Details here - the link you would need is right at the end of the page. Bookmark both links in case you need them again as it looks like it may recur.

I finally got it to work. None of the above steps worked. I just had to do a COMPLETE uninstall and reinstall of iTunes. This means I had to uninstall like 6 different things. Steps are shown here: Remove and reinstall iTunes and related software components for Windows 7 and later - Apple Support
