Hi jimbjazz57,

I understand that after updating your iPhone to iOS 10, you've had some issues with your notes not syncing to other devices. I know it's important to have your information available on any device you use, so I'm happy to help.

If you use iCloud to sync your notes, then log into iCloud.com and see if your notes are syncing to iCloud at all.

On your iPhone, we'll want to make sure you are creating notes in the right folder. Open the Notes app then tap the left arrow in the upper-left corner of the app. Make sure you have the proper folder selected there when entering new notes.

If your notes still aren't syncing, let's try toggling your Notes off and on again. To do this open Settings > iCloud . Turn off notes, restart your iPhone, then turn them on again.

Thanks for using the Apple Support Communities. Cheers!

Hi Becky,

Thanks for your reply. Unfortunately I remain perplexed.

I have three devices, a Mac, iPad and iPhone. After upgrading my iPhone to IOS 10.0.2 on Thursday the Notes on my phone no longer sync with the Mac or iPad (which continue to sync with each other).

As you suggested I logged into iCloud on my Mac and selected the Notes icon. The Notes folders on iCloud.com reflect the changes made on my iPhone and do not reflect the changes made on the other two devices.

I then turned off Notes on my Mac and restarted. When I turned Notes back on it continues to show the folders with changes made on my Mac and iPad and does not match the folders on my phone and iCloud.com.

I'm stumped.

Hi jimbjazz57,

Thanks for the followup and additional details, that gives us some good insight into your issue. Since iCloud.com and your iPhone are syncing, and your Mac and iPad are syncing with each other, then this tells us there are likely two different syncing services at work.

On your iPad, open Settings > Notes > Default Account to see what is selected. If it is something other than iCloud then you can either switch it to iCloud or change your iPhone to whichever is being used here.

You can check the same setting on your Mac by opening Notes, then in your menu bar choose Notes > Preferences > Default Account.

Let us know what your account configuration looks like. Cheers!

Thank you.

The Notes default account on my iPad is iCloud but my Mac was indeed Gmail. I changed this to iCloud and restarted all devices. Unfortunately and surprisingly the syncing remains as it was.

I will mention another observation I made yesterday when I was looking at my iCloud account. I have four devices associated with my account - iPhone, iPad and two Apple TV's that I own. My Mac is not listed and I found no way to add it. Could this be contributing to the syncing issue?
