Airplay won't work with macbook

Since update was done (iOS 10, OSX 10.9.5) to my macbook and apple tv for some reason I cannot connect my macbook pro to apple tv.

When I try to connect I get a message on the tv: Device Requirements, This airplay connection requires IOS 7.1 or later OS X 10.10 or later, or iTunes 11.2 or later.

My macbook iTunes and apple tv are up to date.

Also when I connect my iPhone 6 and 6s its working fine.

I went in to apple tv settings, airplay, Require Device Verification and its turned off but macbook still doesn't connect!!!

Any advice or fix for this problem????

I have the same problem on my macbook Air, I have Sierra 10.9.5 installed and Apple tv 4 with the latest firmware and every time i try to connect airplay, apple tv displays "this Airplay connection requires ios 7.1 or later, os x 10.10 or later, or iTunes 11,2 or later" I have no issues connecting my iphone 6s or my ipad 2. My son who also has a macbook air with sierra installed has no issues connecting to airplay. I have turned off bluetooth and have device verification off on apple tv. Have restarted both devices and still the problem occurs. Any help would be appreciated...
