Q: Motu828 I/O wrong in Logic Pro X

Setup:

MacPro 2009 (FW800)

MOTU 828 (FW400)

Yamaha 02R = ADAT

+other bits that are not important here.

I have a big problem with the I/O assignments of the MOTU 828!

What I need is:

MOTU Label: 02R Label: Logic Pro X I/O

Analogue In/Out 1-8 Line In 1-8 I/O 1 - 8

ADAT optical I/O ADAT.1 Tape In 1-8 I/O 9 - 16

SPDIF I/O N/A I/O 17 - 18

however - although the MOTU audio set-up app, Audio/Midi Utility on the MAC and even Logic I/O assignments in the mixer page say it’s like the above description, the reality is:

Logic Stereo Out (i.e. 1-2) SPDIF out from Motu828 (should come out Analogue 1-2)

Logic Out 3-4  - is correct and comes out 3-4 analogue

Logic Out 5-6  - is correct and comes out 5-6 analogue

Logic Out 7-8  - is correct and comes out 7-8 analogue

Logic Out 9-10  - SPDIF out from Motu828 (should come out Optical i.e. ADAT 1-2)

Logic Out 11-12 - is ADAT, but Tape 1-2 on 02R and should be Tape 3-4

Logic Out 13-14 - is ADAT, but Tape 3-4 on 02R and should be Tape 5-6

Logic Out 15-16 - is ADAT, but Tape 5-6 on 02R and should be Tape 7-8

Logic Out 17-18 - is ADAT, but Tape 7-8 on 02R and should be SPDIF

Furthermore: When sending a signal from the optical outputs the MOTU828’s SPDIF in LED lights up, which is also incorrect.

Resume: All apps are showing the correct I/O labels, but in reality when using the studio with the 02R what the apps are showing is incorrect!

I have just downloaded the latest driver and have gone through all the apps and settings I can thing of (MOTU software, Audio/Midi Utility, Logic X I/O labels) and still am no closer to fixing this issue. This is very bad, because all my music projects and the other pieces of equipment in the studio rely on the settings I have described above, and even if I moved all the output channels along by two I will still not be able to preview samples and other audio files, because they are mostly using the STEREO Out .

If anyone has a solution for me, please let me know, thank you.
