How do I add emoji to my iOS calendar?

I want to add emojis to my subscribed basketball calendar similar to how my subscribed football and moon calendars have an emoji icon in the name. I tried adding it manually by editing the name and adding the basketball emoji but it doesn't show up in the calendar. The football calendars were subscribed to on my iMac but basketball on my iPad but I don't understand why that would make a difference. All are from espn.

Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.

I see that you are trying to add a basketball emoji to your subscribed calendar. I use emojis on some of my calendars as well to track certain events.

You can add emojis to calendars that you create, but if this is a published calendar by a third-party, you won't be able to modify the contents of the calendar without modification privileges granted by the calendar creator/publisher.
