Q: auto-unlock doesn't seem to work and I've met the pre-reqs

so I've confirmed I've turned everything on and that I have the correct hardware and software, but I can't seem to get auto-unlock to work. I'm not sure what else I need to do to diagnose/debug this.

I've got a current gen mbp retina 13", and a first gen apple watch, with TFA enabled for iCloud with BT and WiFI enabled...etc.

anything else to investigate?

What exactly doesn't work? Is the checkbox enabled in Security pref pane? Do you see it say "Unlocking with Apple Watch..." at the login screen?

oh, sorry. I followed the steps at Automatically unlock your Mac with your Apple Watch - Apple Support and yes, I have the checkbox on the security pref pane, and it's enabled. (I've toggled that a number of times trying to make this work)

I've seen the "Unlocking with Apple watch..." a couple of times at first, but it always asked for the password. Now I cannot even get that "Unlocking..." message to appear.

I've found one place that said I needed to toggle Handoff off/back on on my iPhone, but that didn't seem to fix the problem either.
