mavericks, iCloud, password, 5

It is the same question: iCloud Password keeps coming up 5 times. I tried the Mail fix suggested by Jerstra:

I.e., in Mail > Preferences > Accounts > iCloud > Advanced, change Authentication from "Password" to "Apple Token"

but it didn't work. I also found a fix that was Keychain Access with a control click on the "login" key chain and unchecking boxes, and repairing the "login" key chain that still didn't fix the problem.

Do I need the iCloud account? Can i just delete it? Having it in mail means that is the default way of sending mail, so unchecked "enable this account".

I've read about a solution that involves deleting the iCloud mail account and re-establishing it. I'll try it if I can't just delete the account.
