Unable to delete pages from reading list

I have tried various ways to delete pages from my Reading List on Safari. I looked at Help and carried out the steps to swipe left etc to no avail.

I have not had my Apple iMac for long and am learning functions after using PCs. El Capitan OS is installed on it.

Not sure what's happened. Any ideas please?
